ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE QUARTERMASTER CORPS AS A DRAFTEE ON 21 JANUARY 1942 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER (931). STATIONED STATESIDE UNTIL DEPARTING THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 3 NOVEMBER 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH THE 622ND QUARTERMASTER RAILYARD COMPANY THROUGH THE RHINELAND CAMPAIGN AND INTO THE POST-WAR OCCUPATION PERIOD. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON 7 FEBRUARY 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
