ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 14 MARCH 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND LATER QUALIFIED FOR THE OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MESS SERGEANT (824). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 9 OCTOBER 1944 BOUND FOR KOREA. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, 40TH MILITARY GOVERNMENT. EARNED THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN). HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICAL SERGEANT ON 21 JULY 1946 AT CAMP MCCOY, WISCONSIN.
