ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE AIR CORPS ON 2 SEPTEMBER 1942 AT CAMP BLANDING, FLORIDA. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF BANDSMAN (440), HIS CIVILIAN PROFESSION. SERVED STATESIDE AS A TROMBONIST WITH THE 1564TH ARMY AIR FORCES BASE UNIT. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SERGEANT ON 15 FEBRUARY 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT MACARTHUR, CALIFORNIA.
