ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON FEBRUARY 9, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED AS A CRYPTOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN, MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 805. DEPARTED THE U.S. ON DECEMBER 15, 1944 BOUND FOR THE ATLANTIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE 785TH ARMY AIR FORCES BASE UNIT AS A SERGEANT ON MARCH 19, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
