ENROLLED IN THE WOMAN’S ARMY AUXILIARY CORPS (WAAF) ON 13 APRIL 1943 AND SERVED IN THAT CAPACITY UNTIL AFTER THE WOMAN’S ARMY CORPS (WAC) LEGISLATION WAS SIGNED INTO LAW ON 3 JULY 1943. AFTER THAT, SHE ELECTED TO ENLIST IN THE WOMEN'S ARMY CORPS (WAC) AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON 1 SEPTEMBER 1943 AT SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA. SERVED STATESIDE AS A CLERK TYPIST (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 405) WITH THE 2002ND ARMY AIR FORCES BASE UNIT AT STEWART FIELD, NEW YORK. EARNED THE MERITORIOUS UNIT AWARD, THE GOOD CONDUCT MEAL, THE WOMEN'S ARMY AUXILIARY CORPS (WAAC) SERVICE MEDAL, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON 29 NOVEMBER 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT DES MOINES, IOWA.
