ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 24 JULY 1942 AT JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI. SELECTED FOR THE ORDNANCE CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, ATTENDED THE AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICS SCHOOL AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF WHEELED AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLE MECHANIC 965. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 13 OCTOBER 1943 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. UPON ARRIVAL, RE-DEPLOYED TO THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS WHERE HE SERVED WITH THE 3581ST ORDNANCE MAINTENANCE COMPANY SUPPORTING THE BURMA CAMPAIGN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE DRIVER AND MECHANIC BADGE, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE-EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A STAFF SERGEANT ON 10 JANUARY 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
