ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 4, 1942 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. VOLUNTEERED FOR AND GRADUATED FROM THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL, ARMY AIR FORCES TECHNICAL TRAINING COMMAND, YALE UNIVERSITY, NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE 999TH TECHNICAL SCHOOL SQUADRON AS AN AVIATION STUDENT (STAFF SERGEANT) ON MARCH 29, 1944 TO ACCEPT A COMMISSION AS A SECOND LIEUTENANT. RE-ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE THE NEXT DAY AND SERVED IN THE U.S. AS AN ARMAMENT AND CHEMICAL OFFICER (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 4822) WITH THE 1071ST ARMY AIR FORCES BASE UNIT, PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY SEPARATED FROM ACTIVE DUTY AS A FIRST LIEUTENANT ON FEBRUARY 18, 1946 AT BOWMAN FIELD, KENTUCKY.
