ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 14, 1944 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE QUARTERMASTER CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, GRADUATED THE ARMY AIR FORCES’ RADIO MECHANIC SCHOOL AT TRUAX FIELD, WISCONSIN, AND EVENTUALLY QUALIFIED AS A WAREHOUSE FOREMAN (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 252). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON JANUARY 4, 1945 BOUND FOR THE AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. RE-DEPLOYED ON JULY 18, 1945 TO THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS, ARRIVING IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS AFTER WAR’S END. SERVED WITH THE 56TH QUARTERMASTER SALES COMPANY. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SERGEANT ON MAY 15, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
