ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 25, 1942 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE ORDNANCE CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED AS A HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER, MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 931. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON APRIL 24, 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH THE 840TH ORDNANCE DEPOT COMPANY THROUGH THE NORTHERN FRANCE, ARDENNES, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 4 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON OCTOBER 4, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP ATTERBURY, INDIANA.
