ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON AUGUST 5, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MILITARY POLICEMAN (677). SERVED WITH STATESIDE UNITS UNTIL MARCH 31, 1945 WHEN HE DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 413TH MILITARY POLICE ESCORT GUARD COMPANY THROUGH THE CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGN AND INTO THE OCCUPATION PERIOD. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY). HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON MARCH 22, 1946 AT CAMP MCCOY, WISCONSIN.
