ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 1, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE INFANTRY, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND LATER QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF SUPPLY NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER (821). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON AUGUST 25, 1945 TO JOIN THE 34TH INFANTRY REGIMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES AND RE-DEPLOY WITH THEM FOR OCCUPATION DUTIES IN JAPAN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN). HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SERGEANT ON DECEMBER 8, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP BEALE, CALIFORNIA.
