ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON NOVEMBER 2, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (345). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MARCH 15, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE MILITARY POLICE PLATOON OF THE 4TH 'IVY' INFANTRY DIVISION THROUGH THE CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGN AND ON INTO THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH ONE BRONZE BATTLE STAR, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARM OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY). HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JULY 26, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
