ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON SEPTEMBER 2, 1942 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE TRANSPORTATION CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON APRIL 29, 1943 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, 10TH PE THROUGH THE SICILY, ROME-ARNO AND NORTHERN APENNINES CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH THREE BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON NOVEMBER 20, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
