ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON FEBRUARY 19, 1942 AT SCOTT FIELD, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE SIGNAL CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF TELETYPE OPERATOR (239). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON OCTOBER 14, 1943 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY B, 99TH SIGNAL BATTALION, THROUGH THE NEW GUINEA AND SOUTHERN PHILIPPINE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A STAFF SERGEANT ON DECEMBER 10, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
