ENLISTED IN THE SIGNAL CORPS AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1942 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF CLERK TYPIST (405) AND ASSIGNED TO THE 28TH SIGNAL COMPANY, 28TH ‘KEYSTONE’ INFANTRY DIVISION. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. WITH HIS UNIT ON OCTOBER 8, 1943 BOUND FOR CONTINUING TRAINING IN ENGLAND AND WALES. ENTERED COMBAT ON JULY 22, 1944 AT THE NORMANDY BEACHHEADS. FOUGHT THROUGH THE NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE, ARDENNES, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH SILVER BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON OCTOBER 3, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
