SERVED FROM DECEMBER 12, 1942 TO MARCH 31, 1943 OVERSEAS AS A CIVILIAN DIETITIAN WITH 61ST STATION HOSPITAL, THE FIRST CIVILIAN HOSPITAL GROUP TO BE ACCEPTED BY THE WAR DEPARTMENT IN WWII AS A STATION HOSPITAL. ACCEPTED A COMMISSION IN THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT AND ENTERED ACTIVE DUTY WITH THE SAME UNIT IN TUNISIA ON APRIL 1, 1943. CONTINUED TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF HOSPITAL DIETITIAN (3420) THROUGH THE NAPLES-FOGGIA AND ROME-ARNO CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 3 BRONZE BATTLE STARS.
