AFTER HIS INITIAL SERVICE IN DEFENSE OF THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN, HE SERVED IN THE EMBATTLED EUROPEAN THEATER. WHILE THERE, HE FOUGHT IN SEVERAL MAJOR CAMPAIGNS DURING THE LIBERATION OF EUROPE. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE 397TH REGIMENT OF THE FAMED 100TH DIVISION BEFORE HE WAS SADLY LOST IN FRANCE ON FEBRUARY 6, 1945.
