Activity During WWII

Had training at Fort Devens in Ayer, Massachusetts from 1940 to 1941. Sent to Camp Landing in Florida. After that he was convoyed to New York City and sent overseas on the Queen Mary headed to England for more training. He was then deployed to North Africa, Sicily and Normandy, France. He was with the 1st Infantry Division, 18th Battalion, M Company under General Bradley. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal, Bronze, Star medal, Silver Star, Good Conduct medal, WWII Victory medal, Expert Rifleman Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal, Presidential Unit Citations for landing in North Africa, on Omaha Beach in the 3rd wave of the invasion of Normandy and another Presidential Unit Citation for landing in Sicily and a commendation award for liberating a concentration camp in April of 1945.
