SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER. WAS A RIFLEMAN AND EARNED THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE. SERVED IN SOUTHERN FRANCE AND THROUGH THE RHINELAND. BECAME A CORPORAL ON APRIL 4, 1945. WOUNDED IN 1945 AFTER BEING SHOT IN HEAD. HE WAS THOUGHT TO BE DEAD BUT WAS FOUND THE NEXT DAY ALIVE AND GIVEN A CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY FOR DISCHARGE ON JANUARY 11, 1946. HE WAS AWARDED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, A PURPLE HEART AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. FROM JANUARY 1946 UNTIL MAY 11, 1947 HE WAS AT VALLEY FORGE GENERAL HOSPITAL IN PHOENIXVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA. WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM SERVICE ON THE DAY OF HIS RELEASE FROM THE HOSPITAL.
