FLEW WITH THE 52ND FIGHTER 'SPITFIRE' GROUP, 4TH SQUADRON AND B-17 WITH THE 301ST BOMB GROUP OF THE 419TH SQUADRON; BECAME A POW, MISSING IN ACTION IN HUNGARY AND GERMANY FROM 1944 TO 1945. WAS AWARDED ELEVEN (11) BATTLE STARS AND THE AIR MEDAL WITH FOUR (4) SILVER STARS, THE DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS, POW MEDAL AND VALOR CITATION FROM THE 1ST AIR FORCE COMMODORE GENERAL TWINING.
