COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTIES OF RIFLEMAN (745) AND LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (345), AND ASSIGNED TO COMPANY G, 290TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 75TH INFANTRY DIVISION. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. WITH HIS UNIT ON OCTOBER 22, 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. FOUGHT IN ARDENNES, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 3 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON DECEMBER 24, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
