WITH 3 MONTHS, 21 DAYS PRIOR ARMY SERVICE, ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS ON DECEMBER 17, 1941 AT FORT KNOX, KENTUCKY. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER (931), AND SERVED IN THE U.S. STATESIDE UNTIL DEPARTED ON JANUARY 1, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH BATTERY C, 308TH COAST ARTILLERY (BB), THROUGH THE SOUTHERN PHILIPPINE ISLANDS CAMPAIGN. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE ON JANUARY 10, 1947 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
