ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 14, 1944 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE TRANSPORTATION CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF TELEGRAPH OPERATOR (HIS CIVILIAN PROFESSION) AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON FEBRUARY 14, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, 737TH RAILWAY OPERATING BATTALION, IN THE SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES AND LUZON CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICAL SERGEANT ON APRIL 12, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
