ASSIGNED TO THE FLETCHER CLASS DESTROYER USS ROBINSON DD-562, WHICH WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED BY A KAMIKAZE ATTACK. EARNED THE COMBAT ACTION RIBBON (RETROACTIVELY AWARDED BY 1999 ACT OF CONGRESS), NAVY UNIT COMMENDATION, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 7 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A STOREKEEPER THIRD CLASS ON MAY 2, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
