DRAFTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON AUGUST 3, 1944 AT NAVAL RECEIVING STATION, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING STATION, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. FURTHER TRAINING AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI AND AT THE ARMED GUARD CENTER, NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA. SERVED ABOARD THE VICTORY SHIP SS DARTMOUTH AND AT HEADQUARTERS, 8TH NAVAL DISTRICT, NEW ORLEANS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON MARCH 16, 1946 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, NAVAL AIR STATION, NEW ORLEANS.
