ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 31, 1944 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (345). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON NOVEMBER 30, 1944 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND FOUGHT WITH COMPANY B, 330TH ENGINEER (GENERAL SERVICE) REGIMENT THROUGH THE CENTRAL BURMA AND INDIA-BURMA CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON JANUARY 6, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
