ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE WITH THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS ON MARCH 31, 1942 AT JEFFERSON BARRACKS, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF AUTOMATIC WEAPONS GUNNER (601) AND ATTENDED RADIO OPERATOR SERVICE SCHOOL. DEPARTED THE U.S. ON MARCH 7, 1943 BOUND FOR DUTY ELSEWHERE IN THE AMERICAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS WITH THE 24TH COAST ARTILLERY BATTALION. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON NOVEMBER 3, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT LEWIS, WASHINGTON.
