HE COMPLETED HIS BASIC MILITARY TRAINING AT THE U.S. MARITIME SERVICE TRAINING STATION SHEEPSHEAD BAY, BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. SERVED AS A DECKHAND ABOARD 10 LIBERTY SHIPS AND 1 VICTORY SHIP IN THE EUROPEAN AND MEDITERRANEAN THEATERS OF OPERATION. HIS SHIPS AND CREW PARTICIPATED IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC CAMPAIGN MOVING MILITARY EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES AND TROOPS INTO VARIOUS SEAPORTS IN FRANCE, GERMANY, DENMARK, ITALY, SOUTH AFRICA AND EGYPT. AWARDED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. ENTERED THE SERVICE JUNE 1945 AND HONORABLY DISCHARGED SEPTEMBER 1948.
