ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS AN APPRENTICE SEAMAN IN THE SEABEES ON FEBRUARY 19, 1945. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AND MACHINIST’S MATE TRAINING AT THE U.S. NAVAL CONSTRUCTION TRAINING CENTER, DAVISVILLE, RHODE ISLAND. SERVED IN TURN WITH THE 56TH, 76TH AND 23RD NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALIONS INCLUDING OVERSEAS DUTY IN THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLE DISCHARGED AS A MACHINIST’S MATE FIRST CLASS ON MARCH 17, 1946 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
