ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 23, 1942 AT EAST SAINT LOUIS, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MILITARY POLICEMAN (677). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON MAY 15, 1943 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY B, 800TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION, BASED AT TOWNSVILLE, AUSTRALIA. RETURNED TO THE US IN DECEMBER, 1943 DUE TO A MEDICAL CONDITION. HONORABLY DISCHARGED WITH A CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 29, 1944 AT MCCLOSKEY GENERAL HOSPITAL, TEMPLE, TEXAS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
