SELECTED FOR THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LONGSHOREMAN (271). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON JULY 20, 1942 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 311TH GENERAL HOSPITAL IN THE NEW GUINEA, PAPUAN AND LUZON CAMPAIGNS. EARNED A UNIT CITATION AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 3 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON DECEMBER 3, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
