ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 10, 1942 AT SCOTT FIELD, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LONGSHOREMAN (271). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON JULY 20, 1942 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 311TH GENERAL HOSPITAL IN THE NEW GUINEA, PAPUAN AND LUZON CAMPAIGNS. EARNED A UNIT CITATION AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 3 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON DECEMBER 3, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
