ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MAY 22, 1942 AT EAST SAINT LOUIS, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF SANITARY TECHNICIAN (196). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON OCTOBER 5, 1942 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH UNKNOWN MEDICAL UNITS IN THE NORMANDY AND NORTHERN FRANCE CAMPAIGNS. REASSIGNED TO COMPANY D, 369TH MEDICAL BATTALION, ‘FIGHTING 69TH’ INFANTRY DIVISION AND SERVED IN RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 4 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON SEPTEMBER 23, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
