ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON FEBRUARY 8, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER (931). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON NOVEMBER 21, 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH BATTERY C, 660TH FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION (8 INCH GUN), A VII CORPS NON-DIVISIONAL UNIT, IN THE RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS AND INTO THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY). HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON MAY 16, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP MCCOY, WISCONSIN.
