ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JANUARY 26, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY GUN CREWMAN (601). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON JULY 9, 1944 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH BATTERY B, 867TH ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS BATTALION. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON FEBRUARY 21, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
