ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON MARCH 22, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AND TRAINED IN THE SPECIAL MILITARY QUALIFICATION OF ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN CREWMAN. SERVED IN THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC AREA FROM JUNE 9, 1943 THROUGH NOVEMBER 6, 1945. PARTICIPATED IN ACTION AGAINST THE ENEMY AT OKINAWA, RYUKYUS ISLANDS FROM APRIL 8 THROUGH JUNE 2, 1945. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON DECEMBER 1, 1945 AT THE MARINE PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
