ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON APRIL 18, 1946 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (345). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON AUGUST 7, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. UPON ARRIVAL, ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE MILITARY POLICE PLATOON, 86TH ‘BLACKHAWK’ INFANTRY DIVISION ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY). HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE ON JUNE 6, 1947 AT CAMP STONEMAN, CALIFORNIA.
