ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON APRIL 21, 1943 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MILITARY POLICEMAN (677). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON SEPTEMBER 17, 1943 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY D, 799TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION IN THE NEW GUINEA CAMPAIGN. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON NOVEMBER 17, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
