ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JANUARY 18, 1943 AT FORT CUSTER, MICHIGAN. SELECTED FOR THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER (931). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON NOVEMBER 2, 1943 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH BATTERY B, 209TH ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS BATTALION (SELF PROPELLED). EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON JANUARY 23, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
