My Father who was a steam-fitter in civilian life, was in New york City awaiting induction into the U.S. navy Seabees. He and several other men were picked for civilian defense jobs with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was with the Pennsylvania Railroad throughout WWII. He also served as an Air Raid Warden and instructed Naval recruits in Steam-fitting.
