ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE APPRENTICE SEAMAN ON OCTOBER 29, 1943. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING STATION FARRAGUT, IDAHO AND COMBAT AIR CREWMAN TRAINING SCHOOL (AVIATION ORDNANCEMAN) AT NAVAL AIR TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTER, NORMAN, OKLAHOMA. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED IN TURN WITH HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON, FLEET AIR WING 14; HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON 14-2, FLEET AIR WING 14 AND HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON, FLEET AIR WING 2. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON DECEMBER 28, 1945 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
