ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON AUGUST 3, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE FIELD ARTILLERY, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF GUARD PATROLMAN (522). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON FEBRUARY 5, 1946 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 49TH FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF THE JAPANESE HOMELANDS. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN). HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 30, 1947 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP BEALE, CALIFORNIA.
