ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON NOVEMBER 15, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE TRANSPORTATION CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (345). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON APRIL 5, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED IN ENGLAND, FRANCE AND GERMANY IN NON-COMBAT UNITS. HONORABLY DISCHARGED TO ENLIST IN THE REGULAR ARMY ON NOVEMBER 17, 1945 AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS WITH DETACHMENT A, DELTA BASE SECTION, AT MARSEILLES, FRANCE. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
