ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 14, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF RIFLEMAN (745). DEPARTED THE U.S. ON SEPTEMBER 6, 1945 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO COMPANY B, 1282ND ENGINEER BATTALION. HONORABLE DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE ON OCTOBER 31, 11945 AT MANILA, PHILIPPINES, TO ENLIST IN THE REGULAR ARMY THE NEXT DAY. RETURNED TO THE U.S. ON DECEMBER 20, 1945 AND WAS ASSIGNED TO COMPANY E, 15TH INFANTRY REGIMENT WITH WHOM HE SERVED AS AN ASSISTANT SQUADRON LEADER. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON NOVEMBER 16, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION POINT, CAMP CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
