ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS AN APPRENTICE SEAMAN ON APRIL 14, 1944 AT NAVY RECEIVING STATION, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING STATION GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED ABOARD THE SUBMARINE TENDER, USS FULTON AS-11, SUBMARINE DIVISION 81. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON MAY 18, 1946 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
