ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS AN APPRENTICE SEAMAN ON NOVEMBER 5, 1942 AT DETROIT, MICHIGAN. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AND SEABEE TRAINING AT NAVAL CONSTRUCTION TRAINING CENTER, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA. SERVED WITH THE 45TH NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALION IN ALASKA AND THE 11TH NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALION IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CARPENTER’S MATE SECOND CLASS ON NOVEMBER 6, 1945 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, NORMAN, OKLAHOMA.
