Served as a Radio/Gunner Air Crewman on an 'Avenger' torpedo-bomber, attached to the carrier USS Cowpens. Plane crash landed on the flight deck and went into the pacific ocean, in January 1945, during the Battle of the Philippines. Body not recovered.
