PRIVATE FIRST CLASS. SERVED AS A RIFLEMAN AND ELECTRIC MOTOR REPAIRMAN FROM JULY 1943 TO JUNE 1945. HE WAS ASSIGNED TO AN INFANTRY COMPANY SERVING IN THE PACIFIC THEATRE. HE WAS ARMED WITH AN M-1 RIFLE AND WAS FAMILIAR WITH ALL WEAPONS USED BY AN INFANTRY COMPANY. HE TESTED AND REPAIRED INDUCTION, AC AND DC MOTORS. HE SERVED ON GOODENOUGH ISLAND, NEW GUINEA, MOROTAI, BIAK, LEYTE AND LUZON. AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART FOR WOUNDS RECEIVED IN ACTION IN LEYTE, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS AND A BRONZE OAK LEAF CLUSTER FOR WOUNDS RECEIVED IN ACTION NEAR TEBBO, LUZON PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. HE WAS ALSO AWARDED THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, ONE BATTLE STAR AND ARROWHEAD AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION RIBBON WITH 2 BATTLE STARS.
