ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE APPRENTICE SEAMAN ON MARCH 9, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED ABOARD THE FLEET OILER, ESCAMBIA CLASS, USS SEBEC AO-87 IN THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 5 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON NOVEMBER 17, 1945 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
