SELECTED FOR THE ARMY AIR FORCES, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND EARNED THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF AIRPLANE AND ENGINE MECHANIC (747) AT KESSLER FIELD, MISSISSIPPI. DEPARTED THE U.S. ON JANUARY 12, 1946 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH THE 371ST AIR SERVICE GROUP. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION (GERMANY) MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JULY 9, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP MCCOY, WISCONSIN.
