Joined combat duty January 10, 1st Army under General Omar Bradley. Crossed Germany to the Elbe River. Was first division to meet Russians. During last week of April, our company protected route for 10 days so that General Bradley and associates could visit Russian generals. Many years later I was honored to visit the General at his home in California. He treated us with kindness. Later he sent me his photograph.
